Mit 82:92 unterlag unsere Mannschaft am Mittwochabend dem russischen Spitzenteam Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar. Während die Russen offensiv sehr stark und abgeklärt spielten, erkämpfen sich die Albatrosse zwar immer wieder gute Runs, erwischten insgesamt jedoch vor allem im Angriff und beim Defensivrebound einen gebrauchten Tag. Zwar arbeitete sich das Team um Topscorer Luke Sikma (17 Punkte) kurz vor Schluss nochmal bis auf fünf Punkte heran, gedreht werden konnte die Partie jedoch nicht mehr. Trotz der Niederlage ziehen wir von einem starken zweiten Platz aus der Vorrundengruppe B in das TOP16 des EuroCups ein. Dabei hat unser Team einen Alltime „Regular Season“-Rekord mit 23,9 Assists pro Spiel aufgestellt.
Das TOP16 startet in der ersten Januarwoche und beschert uns im Kampf um das Viertelfinale je ein Heim- und Auswärtsspiel gegen folgende drei Mannschaften: AS Monaco, Partizan Belgrad und Rytas Vilnius. Die Spieltermine werden in Kürze bekannt gegeben.

Peyton Siva: „Krasnodar hat heute seine Dreier getroffen, während wir unsere Würfe nicht reingemacht haben. Am Ende sind wir zwar nochmal herangekommen, haben aber nicht die defensiven Stops geholt, die es gebraucht hätte. Dazu haben wir wie gesagt ein Paar würfe nicht getroffen, die wir sonst reinmachen. Aber so läuft das halt auch manchmal.“

In the first game ALBA won and compared to that game they added four new players in Siva, Saibou, Clifford and Nnoko. During the months we had a lot of problems and we still miss two important players. In the first half of the game we had many problems and ALBA was running very well. In the second half we slowed down the pace a bit, move the ball better into the low post and controlled the rebound.”
Aito Garcia Reneses (Cheftrainer ALBA): “Krasnodar played very well today. It was a little bit like how we won the first game. They are an experienced team that knows how to win such games. They circulated the ball very well from the low post to the best player to shoot, which is not easy to do like this. We were too late many times on defense and so we lost many rebounds. Anyway, it is good that we made it to the next round and now we try to advance there, too.”
