Die Rückkehr von Sasa Obradovic an alte Wirkungsstätte als Trainier von EuroCup-Favorit Lokomotiv Kuban bescherte den Fans in der Mercedes-Benz Arena am Dienstag ein packendes Spiel. Am Ende setzte sich das russische Team in einer spannenden Crunchtime knapp 84:89 durch. Den Großteil der zweiten Halbzeit mussten die Albatrosse ohne ihren Anführer Peyton Siva auskommen, der mit Verdacht auf Gehirnerschütterung nicht mehr eingreifen konnte. Für ihn sprang Youngster Bennet Hundt einmal mehr bravurös in die Bresche.

Sasa Obradovic (Cheftrainer Krasnodar): „Great emotions for me to play in this gym in front of these fans again. They did not forget me and gave me a warm welcome. I am very thankful and have a lot of respect for the whole organization and all the fans. We could have finished the game earlier but we made too many mistakes which normally do not happen on our individual level. We gave ALBA the chance to break the game but they did not punish us. Big respect for coach Aito for the game his team plays anyway. I am happy we won and remained in the first place. We want to play the regular season till the end with full focus.”
Aito Garcia Reneses (Cheftrainer ALBA): “The wings and guards of Kuban hurt us a lot today with their excellent three-point shooting. But sometimes we also gave them too much space for their shots. Offensively we did not move the ball enough today. Too many dribbles, what always makes it easier for the defender. We also missed some easy shots but I would never criticize my players for that. I am only concerned about whether we take good or bad shots. Although we did not play our best game, I am happy that we played with full intensity in every minute and never lost or faith to win the game.”

- Wie es von einem Obradovic-Team zu erwarten war, spielte Kuban eine knallharte Defense. Aber die Albatrosse hielten genauso konsequent dagegen, so dass die Zuschauer eines der am härtesten umkämpften Spiele dieser Saison sahen.
- Zum Anfang der zweiten Halbzeit erlitt Peyton Siva in kürzester Zeit zwei (unabsichtliche) Schläge gegen den Kopf. Mit Verdacht auf Gehirnerschütterung wurde er nicht mehr eingesetzt. Für ihn sprang wie schon häufig in dieser Saison Youngster Bennet Hundt in die Bresche und machte seine Sache sehr gut. Er zeigte keine Nervosität, leitete das Spiel konzentriert und spielte starke Verteidigung.
- Kubans große Forwards Broekhoff und Antipov trafen an diesem Abend zusammen 10/14 Dreiern und waren damit die Sieggaranten für die Gäste.
